Description

The first wine produced by Herdade do Esporão dates back to 1985 and has since become a true classic. Produced exclusively from our own grapes using organic farming methods, it reflects authenticity and a commitment to nature.

The diversity of Herdade do Esporão — expressed in its different grape varieties, soils, the maturity of its vines, and the expertise of the people who produce it — results in a rich and intense wine, yet always balanced and harmonious over the years.

Art has been part of Esporão's identity from the beginning. Every year, a new artist is invited to create the label, transforming each bottle into a unique work that tells a story, revealed with every taste. This label was illustrated by Abel Mota.

The 2020 agricultural year recorded temperatures slightly above the average for the last 21 years, while precipitation levels remained in line with the usual for the period.

The mild and rainy winter and spring allowed for a good replenishment of the vineyard's water reserves, resulting in more vigorous vegetative growth compared to 2019. The summer, in turn, was very hot and dry, with particularly high temperatures in July, which led to an anticipation of the harvest by about two weeks compared to the previous year.

The climatic conditions during the ripening period favoured a gradual evolution of the grapes, enabling a selective harvest and contributing to an excellent expression and quality of each variety.
