Description
Quinta das Carvalhas is one of the most well-known and beautiful estates in the Alto Douro.
It holds a prominent position on the hillside of the left bank of the Douro River, overlooking Pinhão. The estate covers the entire hill rising above the river, extending to its summit and also reaching part of the upper slope on the right bank of the Torto River.
The earliest references to the estate date back to 1759. Most of its vineyards, many nearly 100 years old, are old vines that preserve one of the richest and most diverse collections of traditional Douro grape varieties.
